Arbitrary code execution via prototype pollution
Published May 20, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Prototype pollution in Blackprint @blackprint/engine 0.8.12 through 0.9.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. Before the patch, _utils.setDeepProperty accepted object-valued path elements, so an array containing proto bypassed strict string checks and was coerced into the Object.prototype key. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled property paths to reach the library function; the published proof of concept demonstrates prototype modification, while the advisory reports arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
