Arbitrary code execution via unsafe recursive merge
Published May 20, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Prototype pollution in MiguelCastillo bit-loader 10.0.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted loader argument. The M function in dist/index.js recursively merges its e argument into an empty object without rejecting proto, copying attacker-controlled properties onto Object.prototype. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled input to the loader and user interaction, after which polluted inherited properties can alter application behavior and enable code execution.
