CVE-2024-24192Network attack vector

Heap-data disclosure via fixed-length filename copy

Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Heap over-read in robdns commit d76d2e6 allows attackers to disclose process heap data through crafted zone-file input. In src/zonefile-insertion.c, memcpy reads sizeof(block->filename) bytes from parser->src.filename even when the source object is smaller. The report does not establish the privileges required to supply the filename or whether exploitation interrupts service; reachability depends on zone-file ingestion.
