CVE-2024-24156Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Script execution via unescaped board reply content

Published Mar 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2024

Stored XSS in GNUBOARD6 before commit 58c737a allows remote attackers to inject scripts into board replies through wr_content. The write_update handler stores wr_content without HTML escaping, so reply rendering interprets attacker-supplied tags as executable browser content. A victim must view the stored reply; script execution can read or alter data and actions available to that victim's browser session.
