Memory exhaustion via unreleased parsed tracks
Published Feb 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024
Memory leak in Axiomatic Systems LLC Bento4 1.5.1-628 allows remote attackers to exhaust memory via a crafted MP4 file. AP4_Movie::AP4_Movie adds parsed AP4_Track objects to m_Tracks, while mp42aac's no-audio-track error path exits without deleting the movie and its track list. A user must process the supplied file with mp42aac; repeated or long-lived processing can exhaust memory and interrupt that process, with no reported data access or modification.
