Service interruption via unreleased parser allocation
Published Feb 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Memory leak in LibMing 0.4.8 allows attackers to interrupt SWF-processing services by supplying a crafted SWF file. In parseSWF_FREECHARACTER, the PAR_BEGIN macro allocates an SWF_Parserstruct with calloc, and the returned parser record is never freed. The affected parser must process attacker-controlled SWF content; the demonstrated result is cumulative memory loss rather than data access or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
