CVE-2024-23983Network attack vector

Access-control bypass via noncanonical URL paths

Published Nov 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

Improper URL handling in the PingAccess rules engine allows remote attackers to bypass request access rules with encoded paths. The engine evaluates rules without first canonicalizing empty or dot path segments containing encoded slashes or periods, so alternate encodings evade the intended match. Exploitation requires a crafted request to a protected route and passive user interaction; the bounded result is unauthorized functionality and downstream integrity impact.
