CVE-2024-23981

Local privilege escalation via integer wrap-around

Published Aug 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 16, 2024

Wrap-around error in the Intel Ethernet 800 Series Linux Driver before 28.3 allows local users to escalate privileges through local access. Intel has not disclosed the affected routine, attacker-controlled input, or incorrect arithmetic operation within the kernel-mode driver. Low-privileged authenticated local access is required, and successful exploitation grants elevated privileges across a security boundary.
