CVE-2024-23949Network attack vector

Memory corruption via unchecked node field index

Published May 28, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in libigl 2.5.0 allows attackers to corrupt memory when an application parses a crafted ASCII .msh file. MshLoader::parse_node_field sizes a field vector from file-supplied counts, then uses an unchecked file-supplied node index to write components into that vector. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse the supplied file; the resulting corruption can terminate or subvert that process.
