CVE-2024-23945Network attack vector

Cookie signature disclosure via failed verification exception

Published Dec 23, 2024 · Updated Mar 19, 2025

Information exposure in affected Apache Hive and Apache Spark releases allows remote attackers to obtain a valid cookie signature. CookieSigner.verifyAndExtract computes the expected signature for attacker-supplied cookie data, then includes that value in the exception raised when comparison with the supplied signature fails. The affected Hive service or Spark Hive Thrift Server must process a cookie with a mismatched signature, exposing material that defeats the cookie integrity check.
