Device impersonation via cleartext configuration credentials
Published Mar 18, 2025 · Updated Aug 20, 2025
Cleartext storage in MB connect line products before 2.16.2 or 8.2.0 allows local users to obtain device credentials. When a device serial number is unknown before the portal creates a downloadable configuration, the file remains unencrypted and exposes sensitive data. A local low-privileged user with file access can impersonate the device or block the legitimate device from the cloud portal, interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
