Physical root code execution via unvalidated system call
Published Sep 28, 2024 · Updated Oct 3, 2024
Command injection in Alpine Halo9 6.0.000 allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted string. The UPDM_wemCmdCreatSHA256Hash function passes a user-supplied string to a system call without proper validation. Physical access is required, but authentication is not; successful exploitation runs code in the context of root.
