Insufficient update validation in Sony XAV-AX5500 firmware 1.13 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code via a crafted USB update. The software-update handler accepts packages without adequately verifying their authenticity before installing their contents. Physical access to the receiver and a prepared USB device are required; successful exploitation runs arbitrary code in the device context.
