Format string injection in Merative Merge DICOM Toolkit C/C++ 5.6.0 through 5.17.0 allows remote attackers to crash applications. MC_Open_Association processes illegal characters in a DICOM Application Context Name as an externally controlled format string, resulting in an unhandled exception. Exploitation requires an unauthenticated attacker in a privileged network position and application processing of the crafted association.
