CVE-2024-23898Network attack vector

Command execution via unchecked WebSocket Origin

Published Jan 24, 2024 · Updated Jun 20, 2025

Cross-site WebSocket hijacking in Jenkins weekly 2.217 through 2.441 allows remote attackers to run CLI commands via a victim's browser. The cli/ws handler upgrades cross-origin WebSocket requests without comparing Origin to the controller URL, while cookies lacking explicit SameSite can accompany them. Jenkins LTS 2.222.1 through 2.426.2 is also affected; a victim must visit attacker-controlled content, and commands inherit anonymous or victim permissions.
