System crash via concurrent CEC handle release
Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
Use-after-free in Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 TM MFP GNU/Linux subsystem allows local users to crash the system through CEC ioctls. cec_release frees a cec_fh while another thread can retain its lock and later append a message through cec_queue_msg_fh, accessing the freed fh->msgs list. Low-privileged access to the CEC device and a concurrent close-and-transmit sequence are required; the published impact is a system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
