Host file overwrite via unchecked certificate paths
Published Jan 29, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Path traversal in 0xJacky Nginx UI before 2.0.0.beta.12 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite arbitrary host files. AddCert passes attacker-supplied certificate paths and contents to Content.WriteFile, which calls os.WriteFile without restricting either path or validating certificate data. An authenticated certificate-import request can replace app.ini; command execution follows only after the application restarts with an attacker-chosen StartCmd.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
