CVE-2024-23823Network attack vector

Cross-origin data access via unrestricted CORS policy

Published Mar 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Permissive CORS handling in vantage6 4.2.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to read or modify API data through a malicious origin. Server initialization passes no origin restriction to Flask-CORS and explicitly gives Socket.IO a wildcard origin, causing browsers to accept cross-origin API access. Exploitation requires user interaction with an attacker-controlled origin, and the absence of session-cookie authentication limits exposed data and actions.
