CVE-2024-2379Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server impersonation via ignored QUIC TLS errors

Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper certificate validation in curl 8.6.0 allows remote attackers to impersonate HTTPS servers during wolfSSL-backed QUIC transfers. In lib/vquic/vquic-tls.c, curl_wssl_init_ctx logs a wolfSSL cipher or curve setup failure but jumps to cleanup without changing the success result. Exploitation requires HTTP/3, a wolfSSL build with OPENSSL_COMPATIBLE_DEFAULTS, an invalid cipher or curve selection, and an attacker-controlled or intercepted server certificate.
