Code execution via modified NIB bundle
Published Jan 31, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Command injection in Notion Web Clipper 1.0.3(7) allows local users to execute arbitrary commands through a modified NIB file. After Gatekeeper caches the application signature, replacing a bundle NIB with one that instantiates NSAppleScript leaves approval intact and runs attacker-supplied AppleScript in the application's context. Exploitation requires write access to the local application bundle and subsequent launch; Notion disputes that this macOS flaw is a product-level vulnerability.
