Local TCC permission inheritance via enabled Electron fuses
Published Jan 28, 2024 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Code execution in Notion for macOS 3.1.0 and earlier allows local users to inherit the app's TCC permissions via Electron flags. The app leaves Electron's runAsNode and enableNodeCliInspectArguments fuses enabled, so nonstandard launch flags turn its executable into a generic Node.js process. The user must already be able to execute commands on the host; Electron disputes remote exploitation and limits the added impact to permissions already granted to Notion.
