Local permission reuse via runAsNode fuse
Published Jan 28, 2024 · Updated Oct 18, 2024
Code injection in Loom for macOS 0.196.1 and earlier allows local users to execute Node.js code with Loom's inherited macOS permissions. The enabled runAsNode fuse makes the Electron executable honor ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE and start as a generic Node.js process that inherits Loom's TCC grants. Electron disputes remote exploitability because an attacker must already execute local commands; the incremental consequence is reuse of permissions previously granted to Loom.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
