CVE-2024-23741Public exploit

Inherited permission access via enabled Electron fuses

Published Jan 28, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025

Code injection in Vercel Hyper 3.4.1 and earlier for macOS allows local users to execute JavaScript with Hyper's permissions. With Electron's runAsNode and enableNodeCliInspectArguments fuses enabled, the executable honors the ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE environment variable and Node inspection flags instead of enforcing normal application startup. Electron disputes the remote-code-execution claim because an attacker must already execute commands locally, and reuse only inherits permissions previously granted to Hyper.
