Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped Icon URL
Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 31, 2024
Stored XSS in GoDaddy CoBlocks before 3.1.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted Icon block URL. The Icon block writes its Link Settings URL into rendered anchor markup without validating or escaping quotes and event-handler attributes. Contributor access is required to save the block, and a viewer must open or preview the post and move the pointer over the icon, exposing that viewer's browser-session data or actions.
