CVE-2024-23686Public exploit

NVD API key disclosure via debug logging

Published Jan 19, 2024 · Updated Jul 14, 2026

Information disclosure in OWASP Dependency-Check 9.0.0 through 9.0.6 allows local users to recover an NVD API key from debug logs. The debug logger writes the clear-text nvdApiKey configuration value twice when Maven runs dependency-check:check with -X instead of masking it. Access to debug logs and a configured key is required; disclosure grants only the NVD API's higher rate limit for public data.
