Service interruption via CBOR map key sorting
Published Jan 19, 2024 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Algorithmic complexity in PeterO.Cbor 4.0.0 through 4.5.0 allows attackers to interrupt services with crafted CBOR maps. DecodeFromBytes reaches CBORObject.MapCompare, which sorts both maps' key lists while comparing attacker-controlled map structures. Exploitation requires an application to decode a map-containing CBOR input; network exposure depends on how that application accepts data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
