CVE-2024-23679Network attack vector

Account session hijacking via retained session identifier

Published Jan 19, 2024 · Updated Jul 14, 2026

Session fixation in Enonic XP before 7.7.4 allows remote attackers to reuse a preset session after a user authenticates. The lib-auth LoginHandler adds authentication information to the existing session without first invalidating it and issuing a new session identifier. Exploitation requires an identity provider that uses lib-auth login and a user to authenticate with an attacker-known session, after which that session carries the user's access.
