Identity impersonation via redirected PIN and APDU traffic

Authentication bypass in AusweisApp through 2024-02-15 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to assume a victim's identity via eID spoofing. A malicious replacement eID kernel exploits insecure PIN entry on basic readers and unverified eid:// endpoints to redirect the PIN and APDU exchange. The victim must install or invoke the malicious app and use the card; successful attacks expose card data and authenticate to relying services as the victim.
