CVE-2024-23660Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Wallet theft via timestamp-seeded mnemonic generation

Published Feb 8, 2024 · Updated May 15, 2025

Weak mnemonic generation in Binance Trust Wallet for iOS using trezor-crypto-ios 0.0.4 through 0.0.6 allows remote attackers to steal funds. The trezor-crypto random32 function seeds rand once with the current Unix time, and random_buffer converts its predictable output into mnemonic entropy. Remote attackers can enumerate timestamps, derive the corresponding wallet keys, associate them with public addresses, and transfer the funds without access to the device.
