Arbitrary file read via unauthenticated RPC traversal
Published Aug 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 8, 2024
Path traversal in Nuxt Devtools before 1.3.9 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files through its local RPC WebSocket. The unauthenticated getTextAssetContent RPC method accepts traversal paths, while the WebSocket handler accepts cross-origin requests. A victim must have Devtools running and visit a malicious page; prior Devtools authentication and a project under the home directory extend token theft to code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
