Backup data disclosure via enabled Android backups
Published Mar 10, 2024 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Backup-file exposure in Kirill Makarov MusicShelf 1.0 through 1.1 allows physically proximate attackers to read application data. The application tag in AndroidManifest.xml sets android:allowBackup to true, causing Android backups to include internal data stored under /data/data. Physical device access is required; a resulting backup can disclose credentials and other sensitive application data without altering data or interrupting service.
