CVE-2024-23616Network attack vector

SYSTEM code execution via axengine.exe buffer overflow

Published Jan 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 23, 2024

A buffer overflow in axengine.exe in Symantec Server Management Suite 7.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code as SYSTEM. Exodus Intelligence has not disclosed the request field, protocol message, or unchecked copy operation that overflows the process buffer. Anonymous network access to the affected service is sufficient, and successful exploitation grants arbitrary code execution with the service's SYSTEM privileges.
