CVE-2024-23614Network attack vector

Unauthenticated root code execution via wp6sr.so overflow

Published Jan 25, 2024 · Updated Sep 5, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in wp6sr.so in Symantec Messaging Gateway 9.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code as root. The public advisory identifies wp6sr.so as the affected library but does not disclose the input field or unsafe operation that overruns its stack buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; a crafted network request reaches the gateway and grants root-level control.
