Code execution via malformed VI file parsing
Published Mar 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in LabVIEW 2024 Q1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted VI file. The VI file parser does not properly validate user-controlled data, allowing a write past the end of an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires a target to open the malicious file or visit a page that supplies it, and resulting code runs in the LabVIEW process context.
