Windows Hello bypass via fingerprint replay
Published Apr 5, 2024 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Authentication bypass in Lenovo Synaptics fingerprint readers allows physically proximate attackers to bypass Windows Hello. The reader accepts replayed fingerprint data as an enrolled fingerprint; Lenovo has not disclosed the specific check or processing locus that fails to reject the replay. Physical access and an enrolled Windows Hello fingerprint are required, and successful exploitation grants unauthorized access through biometric sign-in.
