Archived-channel file disclosure via missing access check
Published Feb 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper access control in Mattermost 8.1.8 and earlier and 9.0.0 through 9.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to read archived-channel files. The server's attached-file retrieval path fails to enforce the archived-channel visibility setting before returning a post attachment. The user must remain a channel member, the channel must be archived, and archived-channel viewing must be disabled; the flaw exposes attachments only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
