CVE-2024-23454

Local information disclosure via insecure temporary directory

Published Sep 25, 2024 · Updated Sep 5, 2025

Insecure temporary-directory permissions in Apache Hadoop before 3.4.0 allow local users to read data extracted by RunJar.run(). RunJar.run() creates its hadoop-unjar working directory under the shared system temporary directory without explicitly restricting POSIX permissions. Exploitation requires another local account on a Unix-like host and exposes only data placed in that directory during JAR extraction.
