Improper access control in Kibana 8.12.0 allows remote authenticated users to read restricted alert documents through the Search API. The Detection Engine Search API queries .alerts-security.alerts-{space_id} indices without enforcing role-based document- or field-level security filters. Exposure requires a role with DLS or FLS on the alert index and use of KPI, group-by, or direct API access; impact is limited to unauthorized reading.
