Restricted data disclosure via cross-cluster key overlap
Published Jun 12, 2024 · Updated Oct 31, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Elastic Elasticsearch 8.10.0 through 8.13.4 allows remote authenticated users to read restricted search data. When one cross-cluster API key grants replication and restricted search access to the same index, cross-cluster search omits query or field-security restrictions. Exploitation requires the API-key remote-cluster model and returns documents or terms outside the key's intended search scope.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
