Windows crash via unchecked IOCTL return value
Published Jan 29, 2024 · Updated Apr 20, 2026
Denial of service in the Vba32m64.sys driver in VirusBlokAda Vba32 Antivirus 3.36.0 allows local users to crash Windows. IOCTL 0x2220A7 routes output buffers of at least 0x2E bytes into sub_11B34, which dereferences a null return value without checking it. Low-privileged local access to the driver is sufficient, and successful exploitation produces a system-wide blue-screen crash without reported data disclosure or modification.
