CVE-2024-23439Public exploit

System crash via unchecked IOCTL pointer dereference

Published Feb 13, 2024 · Updated May 19, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in Vba32 Antivirus 3.36.0 allows local users to crash Windows systems through crafted driver IOCTL calls. Vba32m64.sys dereferences an attacker-supplied lpInBuffer pointer for nine IOCTL codes without validating that the address is safe to read. Low-privilege local access is required; the read result is not returned to user space, but an invalid address triggers a system-wide BSOD.
