Memory disclosure via cellular message buffer over-read
Published Sep 2, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Buffer over-read in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to disclose memory through crafted cellular messages. The modem decoder over-reads a buffer while processing Tracking Area Update Accept or Attach Accept messages; Qualcomm has not disclosed the routine, malformed field, or failed bounds operation. Exploitation requires delivery of cellular control-plane traffic, and the disclosed data contents are not publicly characterized.
