CVE-2024-23349Network attack vector

Stored script execution via poisoned question summary

Published Feb 22, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Stored XSS in Apache Answer 1.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script in other users' browsers via a question summary. The application accepts malicious code in an edited question's summary and later presents that stored content to other browsers as executable page content. Exploitation requires a logged-in account that can edit its own question and another user to view the poisoned summary; Apache has not identified the responsible function or exact neutralization failure.
