Injection in PackageKit in Apple macOS before Monterey 12.7.4, Ventura 13.6.5, and Sonoma 14.4 allows local users to elevate privileges. PackageKit fails to validate special elements supplied by an application before using them in a downstream operation; Apple has not disclosed the affected API, field, or command sink. Execution of a malicious local app is required, and successful exploitation grants elevated privileges on the host.
