Path traversal in Apple macOS Monterey before 12.7.4, Ventura before 13.6.5, and Sonoma before 14.4 allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files. PackageKit inadequately validates a filesystem path before writing, allowing the destination to escape its intended location. Execution of an attacker-controlled app is required; successful exploitation overwrites a file selected by the attacker.
