CVE-2024-23201Public exploit

Denial of service via unrestricted process signaling

Published Mar 8, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

A permissions flaw in libxpc in affected Apple operating systems allows local users to cause a denial-of-service through an app. On macOS, unrestricted signaling lets an application repeatedly terminate XProtect Remediator processes with pkill, disabling malware remediation. The public proof of concept requires local code execution; Apple has not disclosed how the libxpc permission failure manifests on iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, or watchOS.
