Script execution via unescaped drilldown filter values
Published Jan 12, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025
Reflected XSS in Cargo before 1.35.14, 1.36.0 through 1.39.5, and 1.40.0 through 1.40.1 allows remote attackers to run script via a crafted URL. CargoAppliedFilter::create() passes artist, album, and position query values into rendered filter output without HTML encoding. No authentication is required, but a victim must open the crafted Special:Drilldown link; the script executes in that browser's MediaWiki origin.
