CVE-2024-23168Network attack vector

Remote code execution via missing WebSocket origin validation

Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024

Missing origin validation in the XSOverlay WebSocket API before build 647 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through non-local websites. The API accepts WebSocket connections and command messages from non-local web origins without validating the Origin header. The API must be running and reachable from the browser context; accepted commands execute with the privileges of the XSOverlay process.
