Administrator stored XSS via unsanitized backup names
Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in WP STAGING before 3.4.0 and WP STAGING Pro before 5.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to run script in an administrator's browser. The Backup & Migration editor stores an unsanitized Backup Name value and later inserts it into the edit screen without output escaping. An administrator-level account is required, and exploitation occurs when the crafted backup is reopened; the script runs even when unfiltered_html is disabled.
