CVE-2024-22905Public exploit

Code execution via unchecked Cordio HCI headers

Published Apr 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Buffer overflow in Arm Mbed OS 6.17.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending malformed HCI data to the Cordio BLE stack. In hciTrSerialRxIncoming, an invalid packet type leaves hdrLen at zero while iRx continues writing incoming bytes beyond the four-byte hdrRx buffer. Exploitation requires delivery of malformed HCI packets to a device using the affected Cordio stack and results in memory corruption, code execution, or a device hang.
